Art
Passport to Art at the Newport Visual Arts Center is a hands-on, introductory learning series that will take you on a journey through an array of artistic techniques.
- March 14th & 18th: Alcohol Ink Painting with Jocelyn Stoody. Discover different ways to make colors move and blend, all while creating small pieces of art.
- April 18th & 22nd: Colored Pencil with Jordan Essoe. Learn how layered color can create depth and how to blend colored pencils to draw the sunset over the ocean.
- May 16th & 20th: Carve Into Clay with Liz Fox. This class will teach you the sgraffito technique and how to carve into a platter, creating amazing texture in the clay’s surface.
Farmers Market
Every Saturday starting March 25th: Explore the Farmers Market at the corner of Angle Street and Highway 101 from March to October, 9am – 1pm. Immerse yourself in live music as you browse an extensive array of seasonal produce, fresh flowers, art, and numerous other offerings from over 60 vendors.
Whale Watching
March 28th – April 2nd: Join us for Whale Watching Week and witness the Gray whales heading north to Alaska. Discover migrating and resident gray whales at 17 different whale-watching sites on the Oregon coast through the Whale Watching Spoken Here® program. Watch from two easily-accessible sites close to Hallmark Inn – Dan & Ann Davis Park and Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area. Or get up close and personal with the whales by booking a tour with Marine Discovery Tours.
Paper Arts
Apr 13th – Apr 15th: 2023 Newport Paper & Book Arts Festival

Bike Race
April 30th: Coast Hills Classic Mountain Bike Race
Join the Coast Hills Mountain Bike Race at 10 AM at Wilder Newport Bike Park to experience the beauty of Newport in a whole new way. Ride a challenging course while supporting a great cause: proceeds from the race go towards the youth programs scholarship fund at the Newport Recreation Center.
Tidal Education
Low Tide Learning: Survival Foods
