On June 7th at 6 PM, unleash your inner artist at Pelican Brewing. Follow along with Dawn’s step-by-step instructions and create your Goonies-themed masterpiece while enjoying your favorite libations. Goonies, a 1980s classic, was filmed right in Cannon Beach so you can explore famous sites from the film while you’re in town. See the spot of the Fratelli car chase right in front of Hallmark Resort and Spa! The $45 one-time fee includes the class, all painting supplies, aprons, a take-home canvas and a $10 Pelican Brewing gift card.
59th Annual Cannon Beach Sandcastle Contest
Visit us June 9th – 11th for the 59th Annual Cannon Beach Sandcastle Contest. Witness the transformation of the beach into a sculpture garden as talented sand artists showcase their skills. Bring the whole family to experience the awe-inspiring castles that will transport you to a world where you’d believe a princess is held inside.

Dive into Beachside Live Music and Captivating Performative Experiences
When the sun sets, the entertainment continues with live music all over Cannon Beach.
This lively restaurant has live music five nights a week and even a dog menu so everyone can enjoy the tunes on the outdoor patio. Reservations are highly recommended as this sought-after small-menu spot is a must-try in the area.

July 4th
Spend your Fourth of July with us! Join Cannon Beach in a fireworks-free celebration that even your furry friends can enjoy at the beach. Bird watching
For nature enthusiasts and bird lovers, start your day with a Go Birding walk. The walks are led by knowledgeable guides and provide a unique opportunity to discover the diverse avian species inhabiting the coastal region (including the bald eagle).
Hiking
Bring your whole family to Ecola State Park where you can explore picturesque cliffside views of haystack rock, dense forests and real spots from famous films like Twilight (perfect for those with Zillennial offspring!). This park is a true natural wonder, stretching along 9 miles of pristine coastline and has plenty of picnic tables.
The park’s network of trails includes an 8-mile segment of the Oregon Coast Trail, and a historical interpretive route called the Clatsop Loop Trail. Follow in the footsteps of the Corps of Discovery (aka Lewis & Clark) and get a glimpse into the past. Keep an eye out for herds of Roosevelt Elk grazing in the meadows that make you forget you are steps from the Pacific. While there may be a small parking fee ($5 for the day), the enchanting beauty and the opportunity to explore make it well worth the cost.
To get away from the crowds, discover the secluded coastline of Crescent Beach. This 2.3-mile out-and-back trail winds its way through the lush flora and fauna, immersing you into the old-growth forest before emerging on a beach that’s only accessible by hike. Bring your furry friend (on a leash) and shoes with traction!

For fresh bread and pastries, check out this great bakery offering a baguette bundle and plenty of sweets for the perfect pit-stop before finding a spot in the sand. If you can get there in time before the mid-day rush, we recommend the Almond Bear Claw for its delectable flavor and giant pawprint or a classic Cinnamon Bun warmed right in front of you.
Stop by the market every Tuesday from June 13th – September 26th, 1 PM – 5 PM (closed July 4th) for a fresh taste of the area. From delectable cheese to artisan goods, the market is a perfect opportunity to support local businesses while finding something for the whole family.
Cannon Beach offers an array of picturesque spots to choose from to set up your picnic. From beachfront access right from the resort, to picnic tables all over Ecola state park, it’s easy to find your new favorite spot to dine.
Consider visiting Les Shirley Park located right next to Chapman Beach. Les Shirley has grassy spots to sit and easy access to Ecola Creek for calmer water for your family to play in.
