| SPRING IS HERE!! The weather is finally warming in spectacular Newport on the Oregon Coast. THINGS TO DO: "Golden Dahlia" Quilt on display at the Log Cabin Museum in Newport! Date: Through April 30, 2013 Event Description: The "Golden Dahlia," is a quilt made by Veronica Engelmeier in the early 1950s. The pattern, copyrighted 1934, may have come from Capper's 'Farmer and Farmer's Wife' Magazine. Engelmeier made her first "Golden Dahlia" quilt about 1937. Whale Watch Week - Spring Migration Date: March 23-30, 2013 Event Description: This week is the peak time for spring migration, but whales may be seen heading south from mid-March to late May. Trained volunteers are available to help visitors spot gray whales during migration at 24 coastal sites. Regardless of which direction they may be traveling, whales can be seen any month of the year. Visit www.whalespoken.org for more info. Annual Easterfest - Yaquina Bay State Park Date: March 30, 2013, 9:15 AM, immediately following the Community Egg Hunt. Event Description: Kids can dive in straw for candy/scripture filled plastic eggs and, if weather permits, participate in other activities such as face painting and carnival type games. Coffee, tea, cocoa, and donuts will be available before the egg hunt and during Easterfest. Additionally, tickets will be handed out prior to, and during the activities for prize drawings which include family Easter dinner baskets and children's Easter baskets as well as other give-aways.
