    HALLMARK’S HISTORY

    A Tradition Since 1948

    In Cannon Beach, Bill and Georgie Hay’s dog Sissy sniffed out a “For Sale” sign on a bluff overlooking Haystack Rock, inspiring the idea for the Resort. The couple soon turned the site into a pet-friendly, family-owned retreat,

    Through the Years

    In 1976, the Hays added Hallmark Resort Newport to the collection. During the next few decades Pacific Suites and The Whaler joined the family as well, providing more family and pet-friendly hotel options in Cannon Beach and Newport.

    Coastal Dining

    In 1998, Georgie’s opened in Newport, followed by Pacific Kitchen in 2019. With a commitment to local sourcing and authentic Northwest fare, our restaurants specialize in unforgettable dining experiences.

    Employee-Owned

    After nearly 70 years of being family- and independently Oregon-owned, in 2016, the Hallmark Resorts became employee-owned as well, through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan for full-time employees.

    We're incredibly proud to be part of our coastal communities in Cannon Beach and Newport, and are so grateful for more than 75 years of support. We hope that our resorts, dining destinations, and spa become part of your own family’s Oregon traditions.

    Donation of a house for the new location of the Cannon Beach History Center & Museum, and commission of the model of “Terrible Tilly” found at the museum’s entrance.

    Donation of over five acres to the North Coast Land Conservancy in support of its mission to protect natural and cultural lands to help secure coastal ecosystems.

    We are currently donating a portion of pet stay rates to the Clatsop County Animal Shelter.

    We are proud to support the Newport community. Here’s a snapshot of our involvement.

    Construction and donation of the public stairs and public access pathway to the beach.

    We provide volunteer hours, food, gift certificates, meeting space and/or funding to an exhaustive list of nonprofit organizations—such as Newport High School, Pacific Community Hospital, Friends of Yaquina Head Lighthouse and more.
